Senior Accountant – Tax & SMSF

We are recruiting for a growing Wealth Management company that have offices across Australia. They are expanding their Townsville CBD office and looking to welcome an experienced Senior Accountant – Tax & SMSF to their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant who enjoys working across a diverse client base, thrives on managing their own workflow, and has the technical confidence to take jobs from start to finish. You'll have the opportunity to build strong client relationships, work across a varied portfolio, and play an important role in the continued growth of the practice.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and lodging individual, company, trust and partnership tax returns.
• Preparing financial statements and year-end accounts.
• Managing SMSF financial statements and tax returns.
• Preparing and lodging BAS and IAS, including GST and PAYG compliance.
• Assisting with tax planning and year-end tax matters.
• Preparing workpapers, reconciliations and supporting documentation.
• Liaising with the ATO and ASIC as required.
• Reviewing client records, following up outstanding information and resolving queries.
• Providing clients with practical support across general accounting and taxation matters.
• Managing jobs from commencement through to completion, ensuring accuracy and meeting key lodgement deadlines.

You'll ideally bring:

• Solid experience in an Australian public practice accounting environment.
• Strong knowledge of Australian taxation, financial reporting and compliance requirements.
• Proven experience across individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships and SMSFs.
• The ability to independently prepare tax returns and financial statements from start to finish.
• Excellent attention to detail and a proactive, accountable approach to your work.
• Confidence communicating directly with clients and building lasting professional relationships.
• Experience with accounting and tax software such as Xero, Xero Tax, MYOB, Class Super or BGL.
• CA, CPA or IPA qualifications, or progress towards qualification, will be highly regarded.
